X-Men ‘First Class’ Sequel Now Titled ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ written by Sean Gerber August 2, 2012 In an interview with IGN, producer Bryan Singer confirmed “X-Men: Days of Future Past” is the title of the next entry to the famed mutant movie franchise. The film will obviously be influenced by the popular 1981 storyline from “The Uncanny X-Men.” Singer called the film, “ambitious,” and acknowledged a desire to “broaden out the universe” in which the films are set. Speculation as to how this concept could merge the prequel universe with the original trilogy is already underway. Sounds interesting. Also, if it follows closely with the comic story, there will be a expanded role for Jennifer Lawrence (Mystique), which y’all have discussed as a likely outcome of her Hunger Games popularity. Adrian Decent flick that really had no clue what direction it wanted , is it a prequel or a new start ? I guess this will be ok but between what Marvel Studios is doing with Avengers , GoTG etc , this better be ” epic ” which the last one was not . Kerry Vanderberg This definitely excites me! I loved X:FC much more than the Gentlemen did, as I thought it brought back the spirit and focus of what made the first two films really great. It’s got its flaws, but I didn’t have nearly the problems with it that the Gentlemen did. That said, I really hope that this sequel improves on FC by leaps and bounds. While I wasn’t around when this story was first published, I learned enough about it down the road when I got into X-Men during the 90’s, and really enjoyed the Animated Series’ version of this story as well. I like it when the X-Men universe explores future scenarios with characters like Bishop and Cable, so I really hope that we get to see these kind of characters and situations brought into play. Just thinking off the top of my head, having part of the story take place in the future would be a great way to involve characters like Wolverine, Kitty Pride, Rogue, or Iceman and bring back members of the original cast from the first trilogy. That way, it would explain how they are significantly older than when they first appeared in the original films, but give us a chance to see how they have developed and grown amidst very dangerous circumstances. I also hope that a story like this would bring in young versions of Cyclops and Jean and also show how significant they truly are to the larger mythos with Cable and Rachel being their descendents that have significant impacts on the future. Plus I hope to see characters like Mr. Sinister and Apolalypse brought into the story.
