‘The Dark Knight Rises’ Amasses $1 Billion Globally
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The Dark Knight Rises” has made the climb over the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office. Its total of $1.005 billion has surpassed the $1.003 billion sum of its predecessor, “The Dark Knight,” without the benefit of a rerelease. “TDKR” will finish behind “TDK” domestically, perhaps in part because of the tragic circumstances surrounding the former’s opening weekend, but international fans have made Nolan’s finale the most lucrative chapter of his revered trilogy.

Congrats to team Nolan .
Well deserved
i’ve seen it five times already. you’re welcome Mr. Nolan.
This deserves a re-release just like the avengers, but I don’t see that happening. I saw it again recently, the action blows my mind. Much better action than dark knight in my opinion.
Did it in seven weeks, while The Dark Knight needed the January 2009 IMAX re-release to get over the billion dollar mark. There is no doubt the shooting Colorado knock a decent amount of the domestic box office, but hasn’t seemed to affect the international box office at all, even most the red carpet premiers canceled after shootings.
please Sean, this deserves a podcast….
Congrats to WB and Team Nolan!! TDKR surpassed TDK in just 7 weeks which is a very impressive feat. TDK was not re-released. It was re-expanded. Meaning it got a boost in theater count. There is a difference. lol TDK was in release for 231 days / 33 weeks.
TDK got an IMAX rerelease in January 2009. Semantics aside “The Dark Knight Trilogy” produced two billion-dollar films, which is very impressive.
[...] who helped his big brother deliver us a certain superhero franchise that just clocked its second billion-dollar-earning entry. If you need a weekly dose of the trademark Nolan mix of action and morality offered by the Batman [...]
Well deserved. And a great movie considering it was probably Plan B or C after Ledger’s death. Personally, and I know its sacrilege, but I hope they don’t make another Batman movie for 20 years. These are it for me. You won’t see a remake of The Lord of the Rings anytime soon, and as far as I’m concerned, the Nolan Batman films are the Lord of the Rings of Batman films.
Oh that’s too long
Just don’t bring back the suit nipples and neon or a batman that murders people , please
