Star Wars RUMOR: A Long Time Ago, in a Gosling Far, Far Away? (UPDATED) written by John Bierly July 24, 2013 UPDATE 1! As of July 25, Gosling’s reps replied to a query from the Huffington Post with, “This is not true.” But of course they’d have to say that even if it were. UPDATE 2! Latino Review’s El Mayimbe Tweeted that in addition to the Gosling denial, Zac Efron’s reps asked Latino Review to take down the story entirely. Take that as you will. You’d think they’d just shrug it off and enjoy the free publicity if it weren’t true. Or they could just be really protective of their client. We’ll probably know soon. Original article follows! May the source be with you! The guys over at Latino Review continue to have more scoop than Baskin-Robbins; Kellvin Chavez exclusively reported all kinds of “Episode VII” news today, including word that Ryan Gosling is being considered to play a character who just might be the son of Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker. I highly recommend checking out Kellvin’s scoop at the link above, but here are some highlights: Leonardio DiCaprio was considered for a role (possibly the role Gosling’s said to be up for?) but passed because he’d rather do “Robotech.” The film takes place 30 years after “Return of the Jedi.” Zac Efron is also reportedly being looked at for an unspecified role. Maybe as a Solo kid? (Don’t hold his “High School Musical” past against him. He’s working hard and branching out in films like “The Paperboy.”) “No way” will director J.J. Abrams leave the project, says Kellvin’s source, which is in line with the denial Lucasfilm released about rumors of tension earlier in the week. With production ramping up soon, expect big announcements to happen at Disney’s D23 expo in Anaheim this August 9-11! It’s an exciting time to be alive, isn’t it? Avengers, Superman and Batman, and more Star Wars all in the same year. It’s outrageous, really. RUMOR: A Long Time Ago, in a Gosling Far, Far Away? Gosling: (staring sullenly directly at the camera) Luke: (a bit confused) Now, um, as I have told you many times while the dark side is not stronger it is easily more seductive… Gosling: (staring sullenly directly at the camera) Luke: you know what? never mind, where’s your sister? Justin Bolger I’m undecided about these rumors so far. My first instinct says no. I happen to believe that relatively unknown actors fill in the Galaxy Far, Far Away better than any established box office draws. But, if there’s an actor who is perfect for a character who is perfect for a well written and developed story that serves a purpose and entertains, I’m all for it. I’ll trust JJ Abrams until he gives me reason not to. Gerald Has Latino Review ever been right about anything besides announcing Heath Ledger would be the Joker? It seems like there is always some preposterous “scoop” or another coming from them, yet they mysteriously never seem to pan out. Remember the rumors they spread about Christian Bale returning as Batman or the Planet Hulk film Marvel was supposedly developing? etourist Ryan’s going to busy for the next few years then. His name is being attached to just about everything including as a potential for the next Batman. I think it’s just wishful thinking from his fans hoping one of these roles will actually happen. If Star Wars keeps him away from being the next Batman I’ll be happy. stock I don’t like that guy. But all the heavy denials make it sound like ain’t nobody wants to be in no damn Star Wars movie. Look what they did to Samuel L! Look what they did to Liam! Who would claim to be a part of that, who was not?
