Star Wars First Teaser for STAR WARS REBELS written by Justin Bolger October 8, 2013 We got our first look at next year’s STAR WARS REBELS animated series with a 15 second teaser that aired on Disney XD last night. The teaser featured an Imperial Star Destroyer gliding through space in an overhead shot replicating the now iconic opening shot of the STAR WARS saga. The Star Destroyer is revealed to be towing the STAR WARS REBELS logo before the logo detaches and is shown to be a ship, which then vanishes into hyperspace. While the teaser revealed almost nothing, it was nice to see an Imperial Star Destroyer done in STAR WARS: THE CLONE WARS style animation. The voiceover also stated, “the Jedi will rise”, indicating a survivor of Order 66 will be a part of the new show (hoping for Ahsoka Tano, myself), which is a new piece of information. For those of you disappointed in the lack of new content, patience. Lucasfilm will be revealing more at this week’s New York Comic Con. If you’re a STAR WARS fan, this is where the fun of speculation begins. July 21, 2015 Michael Lalaian Its hard to tell from what we little we just saw, but the art style seems similar to Clone Wars. I wonder if it will be a continuation of that series set ten years later. Justin Bolger Dave Filoni, former supervising director of Clone Wars is one of the driving forces behind this series as well. I’m really happy about that. His work on that show really helped flesh out the world of the prequels, and he has an almost instinctual insight into what makes Star Wars work. While Rebels isn’t a direct continuation of Clone Wars, it’s a virtual certainly that there be will tie ins to some of the characters and arcs left unresolved by Clone Wars’ rather hasty cancellation. Looking forward to it. Michael Lalaian Ah yes, I love Filoni. And his hat. He most certainly was the driving force behind making the prequel era cool. Looking forward to it!
