Star Wars NYCC: STAR WARS REBELS- Meet The Imperial Inquisitor written by Justin Bolger October 12, 2013 Lucasfilm’s STAR WARS REBELS panel this afternoon at New York Comic Con was all about “The Might Of The Empire”. From vehicle designs to revelations about Stormtroopers, the presentation made it clear that the Empire would be as crucial to the new series as its titular Rebels. The biggest revelation came near the end of the panel when the series main villain, the Imperial Inquisitor, was introduced. Wielding a double bladed crimson lightsaber and sporting an unmistakably Imperial style uniform, the Pau’an Inquisitor is an agent of Darth Vader tasked with the pursuit and elimination of any Jedi who survived Order 66. From the official STAR WARS site: The next great villain from a galaxy far, far away is here. Fans attending Lucasfilm’s Star Wars Rebels panel today at New York Comic Con got the world’s first look at the Inquisitor, a black-clad, intimidating figure who will play a prominent role in the upcoming animated series. In a special video (available below) screened at the end of the panel, Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni officially revealed the character, showing a sculpted maquette, design sketches, and disclosing that the Inquisitor is “tasked by Darth Vader to hunt down the remaining Jedi Knights.” You can watch the special video for yourself below. STAR WARS REBELS will air in the fall of 2014. Derick22 Remember when a lightsaber was suppose to be “an elegant weapon, for a more civilized age?” In the expanded universe they give them out like IPhones. Justin Bolger Lightsabers remain the “elegant weapon” that Kenobi described, and still “not as clumsy or random as a blaster”. While there are more Force users than we were led to believe in the original trilogy, nothing’s diminished the weapon’s impact whenever it appears. This is especially true of The Clone Wars television series, which comes from many of the same people working on Rebels. Naes How is Obi-Wan so stupid that he can’t grasp the obvious benefits of a projectile weapon like a blaster? Also, how is decapitating someone (for example decapitating Jango in front of his 10 year old son) in battle a more civilized? The Jedi are really dumb. Naes Hmm… let me guess. “We’re going for a darker, more serious tone with this animated series… blah… blah … blah.” Like I haven’t heard that before. They ring the bell and everyone has a Pavlovian response and we drool. Of course, they usually kick us, but they ring the Star Wars bell again and we anticipate meal time. Also, why don’t they make the bad guy look like a puppy or something instead of someone who obviously looks like he’s evil. stacey Cairns Star wars has been stuck in a creative rut for such a long time now. I really hope Michael Arndt and Lawrence Kasdan can give it the kick up the arse it so desperately needs.
