X-Men X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST Trailer Arrives! written by Sean Gerber October 29, 2013 The gang’s all here and in some cases twice in the new trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. Due out next Memorial Day weekend, the film marks the return of Bryan Singer, who directed the first two films in the franchise. As the trailer shows, X-MEN: DOFP centers on the modern day Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) going back in time in hopes of curing a jaded Charles Xavier (James McAvoy) of his cynicism so that the latter can fight to prevent a disastrous future for mutant-kind. June 1, 2014 Adrian Edmondson I like it , lots of things going on and the time traveling plot has me intrigued . Hopefully Singer can pull this off Adrian I’m excited for the film but I was a little underwhelmed by the trailer, especially when it’s on the heels of The Winter Soldier’s excellent trailer. Michael Lalaian I hope it turns out well, it certainly has potential. However, as cynical as this may sound, I hope it doesn’t turn out so well that Fox wants to continue making X-Men films, or at least X-Men films in this particular continuity. It’s so muddled at this point that I really, really want a fresh start for the franchise (obviously, preferably, at Marvel Studios). Here’s to hoping this is just a nice cap on the franchise as opposed to leading to an expansion of it. I have to say though, the series of shots of new mutants around the 0:35 mark looked a little… Mortal Kombat (1995) the movie. Adrian Edmondson One of the nameless mutants kinda looked like Billy Zane but much thinner or maybe I’m imagining things 🙂 Neil This was pretty rad. Noticed lack of sentinels which is nice because, like the Cap trailer, it titillates without giving away everything (although I may be eating those words as we approach release date). As great as this is, I’m a tad bit tired of Wolverine (which, all things considered, speaks to how well Hugh Jackman serves the role, if it takes 13 years and 7 appearances for me to feel that way). Or perhaps I just REALLY miss Cyclops. Yeah, that’s probably it: Wolverine: Hey! It’s me. Cyclops: Prove it! Wolverine: You’re a dick. Cyclops: Okay. T.J. The combination of this trailer and “The Wolverine” have me reasonably excited to see this movie. GibLesPaul456 I’m glad Bryan Singer is back on board the X-Men franchise…I believe his X-Men movies were the most absorbing dramas along with Nolan’s Batman run in the comic book movie genre. As long as Wolverine, Professor X (young and old), and Magneto (young and old) are kept as the main focus with Beast and Mystique playing off them in the story…then this could be a great one. JRocka So Kitty does not go back in time? Adrian Edmondson Nope , it’s Wolvie cause no one else is interesting enough to build a movie around from the other mutants not named magneto and Xavier . My expectations are so low that I will be pleasantly surprised once I see it . Hopefully it will be worthy of repeat viewings . DZS singer is just using the Marvel formula & using wolverine as much as possible.but most of the x-men movies have been good fun.with singer directing shld b great.also his x-men(2000) paved the way 4 marvel movies..not blade.and spidey followed. Charlie Looks pretty interesting, but man was it horribly edited. Not so much the first half, but that cut to Wolverine screaming was just very sudden. As was the music transition. T.J. I hear a lot of people are disappointed with the lack of “sizzle” in this trailer, but one thing that the recent X-flops like “Origins: Wolverine” and “X3” have not lacked is sizzle – CGI, action, stuff blowing up, mutant powers, etc. What they lacked was the “steak” itself – good acting, good dialogue, character development, etc. This trailer showed me that all of the “steak” will be there again. That’s all I needed to know.
