X-MEN: APOCALYPSE is coming to a theater near you in 2016! More details are sure to follow in the coming weeks, but for now, take this as a huge sign of 20th Century Fox’s confidence in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. #Xmen #Apocalypse 2016! — Bryan Singer (@BryanSinger) December 5, 2013 X-MEN: APOCALYPSE Coming 2016! was last modified: February 20th, 2016 by Sean Gerber Related MarvelX-Men: ApocalypseX-Men: Days of Future Past 15 comments 0 Facebook Twitter Google + Pinterest Sean Gerber Sean Gerber is the founder and editor-in-chief of Modern Myth Media. July 18, 2013 Review – Familiar Mistakes Plague X-MEN: APOCALYPSE May 11, 2016 Michael Lalaian …and, coincidentally, Simon Kinberg said today that he’s been hired to build this universe up like Marvel’s. So, I guess ‘yay’ if you’re a fan of more 20th Century Fox produced super hero films? I certainly hope the film is good of course, but I’m with what Paul said a few weeks ago: I’m just ready for an all new cast, new Wolverine, new everything. Matthew Puetz I just read an article that says that Jackman may not be interested in playing Wolverine anymore. Naes1984 They are never going to sell or give this property back to Marvel/Disney. And why would they? They bought the rights fair and square when Marvel mismanaged itself into bankruptcy. Every single one of these X-Men-related movies have been money makers for them (X3 is the highest grossing even though most consider it to be very bad). Fox might be getting a little ahead of themselves, but at least they have a general plan of what they want to do next. Moving away from Magneto and the bigoted humans might be nice for a change. Shawn Really wish the X-Men along with the Fantastic Four would go back to Marvel. Adrian Edmondson Seems like lil Bri Bri needs attention again . Hey look at me , I’ll have a big bluish grey guy in my movie also … Who am I kidding , hopefully it’ll be awesome but they really need a fresh start to this series . Gregory Walsh I think the biggest thing needed by this soft reboot is updating the look and feel as much as anything. The movies still feel trapped in the early 2000’s. Most of the actors are fine. Unfortunately the first trailer did not inspire such hope. Kerry Vanderberg Yes, yes, yes, all kinds of YES!!!! Apocalypse is my favorite villain from the X-Men and I have been longing to see him make it to the big screen for awhile. I’m secretly hoping he’s the true villain in DOFP, but I wonder now if that film will lead into this one? I love it! I cannot wait for DOFP, and this news has me tremendously excited! Naes1984 Anyone notice how Darkseid, Thanos and Apocalypse all look basically the same? They’re all dictators who all look like rock monsters with beady red eyes, and big chins. Long lost cousins? It’s like Swamp-Thing and Man-Thing. Who was ripping off whom? Michael Lalaian I was actually just thinking that very same thing 😛 Naes1984 The real question is: which of them has the more laughable clothing accessory? Apocalypse has a big-ass belt buckle with an “A” like he’s a cowboy from Texas. Thanos has the amazing technicolor dream glove (i.e. the infinity gauntlet). Darkseid wears thigh high go-go boots. Michael Lalaian Definitely the gogo boots. Can’t take anyone seriously in gogo boots. stock Thanos was a Darkseid ripoff, Apocalypse rips em both off. But hey, if you’re gonna rip something off, rip off the best. Robert Reineke I’m glad they’re tackling the big name villains and branching out. Frankly, I’d rather see that than token Avengers namedropping and cameos. Michael Lalaian I just thought of something: Could Marvel actually prevent Fox from making a shared universe? The X-Men and Fantastic Four are both licensed /from/ Marvel, but they were licensed as separate franchises, just like Daredevil was (which is why its rights could revert independently of X-Men or FF). Couldn’t Marvel step in and say “You have the right to make X-Men films (ie, anything mutant related) and Fantastic Four films, but not X-Men/Fantastic Four films.” After all, it’s not like Sony can just throw Spider-Man and Resident Evil together in a crossover just because they have both licenses. Or could they? Daniel Van Cortlandt I gotta say I’m really excited for this. Apocalypse is probably my favorite thing about the X-Men Universe. Not only is he just bad-ass with those weird lips and tubes in his arms, but the ancient-native-mystery and ambiguousness surrounding his origin, while still grounded on earth, is more frightening than a completely foreign space-god. Just speaking from personal preference, he’s the best of the three when it comes to Apocalypse, Darkseid, and Thanos. Plus with him you can work in Archangel, and maybe Mr. Sinister as well.
