Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Earns An Emmy Nomination! written by Sean Gerber July 10, 2014 It’s not often we get to discuss Emmys and the superhero genre in the same sentence, but today we can. Congratulations to MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. on its Emmy nomination for Outstanding Special and Visual Effects! Perhaps there will be a chance to celebrate during the Marvel Television panel at San Diego Comic Con in a couple weeks. AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. Very disappointing show, and when you compare it to something like Arrow, you end up realizing how mediocre Agents Of Shield is. A shame really, as it could have been great and i really thought that with Cap 2 having come out that the show would be pushed into the next level but it never ended up happening.. On the plus side Gotham, Flash and Constantine are looking great and i’m drooling at the mouth at the upcoming Daredevil series. It truly is comic book nirvana at the moment! Robert Reineke From my understanding, shows get to select one episode for consideration, so it wouldn’t surprise me if they submitted the pilot. In which case, there’s nothing wrong with its nomination. Things got sketchy special effects wise later. I’d imagine that Game of Thrones is the frontrunner in the category. Michael Lalaian Yes Men and Girl in the Flower Dress also had particularly good special effects, if I remember correctly. As for story, I think Turn, Turn, Turn could have been a strong contender. Robert Reineke I don’t know how well Turn, Turn, Turn works out of context with the other episodes of the series, which is one of the difficulties in the Emmies. Nobody has the time to watch every episode of every series. The pilot was probably their best shot, and I think the general consensus was that it was good for a pilot, not necessarily as a show firing on all cylinders. Darren James Seeley That’s great! It’s been a long time since a TV series based on comics got Emmy nominations. But still….Arrow is the better show, and it gets nothing. Among the noms there are two things I noted and rejoiced: Games Of Thrones, of course and the various Netflix series being nominees. That last part might not seem important to some—but w/ Daredevil coming out next year, who knows. Robert Reineke I was kind of surprised that Arrow didn’t get any nominations for stunt work. They’re working well above their pay.
