Gambit Channing Tatum To Star As GAMBIT In October 2016 written by Sean Gerber January 6, 2015 Channing Tatum got his wish. The FOXCATCHER star gets to play the superhero he wanted to play more than any other in Fox’s GAMBIT. The film has been scheduled for release on October 7, 2016. It will be the third film released in the resurgent X-MEN franchise next year after DEADPOOL in February and X-MEN: APOCALYPSE in May. Depending on whom you ask, Gambit is one of the most or least liked characters in X-Men lore. He rose to somewhat mainstream popularity as a prominently featured character in the early 90s X-MEN animated series on Fox. The character has already been seen and his Cajun accent heard once in the film franchise when played by Taylor Kitsch in 2009’s X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. Gambit has the ability to turn inanimate objects into explosive devices and playing cards are usually his weapons of choice. Based on that skill set, GAMBIT should be able to deliver big action and Tatum’s ever-increasing popularity will direct many eyes toward the film’s marketing materials. All that’s left is for screenwriter Joshua Zetumer (2014’s ROBOCOP) and the eventual director to make a movie that is more than a quick capitalization on the actor’s interest. In additional Fox superhero movie news, the sequel to this year’s FANTASTIC FOUR reboot has been moved to June 2, 2017 (up from July 24, 2017). Robert Reineke The takeaway that I get is that someone very clearly believes in the star power of Channing Tatum. Sean Gerber Same here. Under the circumstances, though, Fox is playing this smart. The release date provides a little space from typical blockbuster territory, making it easy to sweep this one under the rug if the movie stinks and/or Tatum isn’t the draw they think he is. Marie gambit is one of my favorite characters from x-men universe & I’ve been waiting a while to see him in any live action film. however, I’m not a channing tatum person. i’ve never been fond of him as an actor so, this doesn’t make me happy or excited, which is sad to say. it is what it is.
