Fantastic Four FANTASTIC FOUR Reportedly Heads For Reshoots written by Sean Gerber January 15, 2015 Director Josh Trank’s FANTASTIC FOUR can’t buy a good headline. The much-maligned film from which no fan or movie pundit has seen anything is now reportedly set to undergo reshoots in Louisiana. On its own, that news is not inherently troubling, but additional information in the report from Bleeding Cool is cause for concern. Many great films, especially in the superhero genre, have undergone reshoots. Marvel Studios pre-plans reshoots or additional filming as fixtures of its movie production schedules. Reshoots are not bad by default, but there is no indication this was part of the plan. Fox was not counting on a return trip, as the New Orleans sets that were taken down after principal photography ended last August now have to be rebuilt. Bleeding Cool also reports one senior executive described the film as, “a mess.” FANTASTIC FOUR is reportedly a source of anxiety for Fox with the reshoots being demanded to fix the remaining problems. Suffice to say, this not the kind of report FANTASTIC FOUR needs right now. Usually, people go into superhero movies wanting to like them (and we all still should with FF), but this is sure to fuel the fire of those waiting or even hoping for this movie to fall down so that Marvel Studios can pick up the pieces after potentially getting the rights back. Between fears of this film looking and feeling more like a sequel to Trank’s CHRONICLE and concern over Doctor Doom’s (Toby Kebbell) modernized background, fans are in need of some assurance that this film will do Marvel’s “First Family” justice. It is important to remember, though, that FANTASTIC FOUR still offers a very talented cast in Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Bell, and the aforementioned Kebbell. While it’s hard to like much of what we’ve heard, what we’ve actually seen amounts to zero. It is also important for Fox to make sure that our inevitable first look at FANTASTIC FOUR is a mind-blowing one. There’s something to be said for just seeing a trailer or commercial, and deciding whether to go or not to go. T.J. Well this came out of everywhere. Adrian Edmondson I think it will be fine as long as the reshoots are done well in advance of the actual release , something GL learned the hard way .
