Movies Open Forum: TIME LAPSE written by Robert Reineke May 15, 2015 TIME LAPSE doesn’t quite fit what we cover at MMM, but it’s a nifty little time paradox film, shades of THE TWILIGHT ZONE meets SHALLOW GRAVE, with Danielle Panabaker from THE FLASH as one of the three leads, so there may be some overlap of interest. Especially as a blockbuster alternative as it gets a limited theatrical release and a widespread VOD release today. Here’s the trailer. I saw the film last fall when it was on the film festival circuit and I have a review here. Obviously there’s an initial conceit, present in the trailer above, that playing the dogs instead of the lottery is the first step taken which may be the biggest stumbling block for some, but once that conceit is accepted, you have a twisty, smart little thriller with a subtext about predestination vs. free will. I think a lot of people will be pleasantly surprised if they give it a chance. Assuming my recommendation is taken, I’d certainly be interested in hearing back from our loyal readers that take the plunge. Especially if we’re all going to complain about the lack of original ideas from Hollywood.
