Movies Trailer: TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS written by Robert Reineke December 10, 2015 Studios are getting trailers out before STAR WARS, the holidays, and Awards Season engulfs everything. So, here’s the first look at the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. The first one was a surprise hit, but this one looks like they’ve course corrected some to bring it more in line with the cartoons. Oh, and Stephen Amell gets a good sized role. I can’t say that I ever really was a big fan of TMNT, but I’m sure some of our readers were. So, is this what you’re looking for in a turtle’s movie? Better or worse than the first one? TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES: OUT OF THE SHADOWS gets released on June 6, 2016. I will say I will not see this , but like any car wreck , you have to look 🙂 OB Aww, man here we go… Looks like it is going to suffer from the “They stole it from Avengers” plague that’s going around. But, to be fair, they said the entire plot of the last TMNT was mostly stolen from The Amazing Spider-Man. As far as what I think of the trailer, it has great potential. If it wasn’t for the fact that most of the earnings of the last movie came from kids 12 and under I might be worried, but due to the everlasting popularity of the TMNT brand I’m sure this film will do well… Especially because it seems to be trying to draw in the older era of TMNT fans with things like Bebop, Rocksteady and Baxter Stockman who have been waiting to see them on the big screen ever since we got the Prof. Jordan Perry/Tokka/Rahzar shaft in Secret of the Ooze when they could have easily just renamed those characters and done some fan service. The big question is is what’s coming out of the portal? And is it going to be Dimension X-related and involve Krang/Utroms? If so, then damn. I’ll see it three times. Just don’t let it be something generic or NEUTRINOS. NO NEUTRINOS. I’ll take Triceratons, they’re cool too! Casey Jones is a good addition(wish he had long hair), although I think he should have been in the first movie (instead of a pointless Vernon Fenwick) Yeah, sorry Will Arnett, I love you as the voice of Lego Batman, but please stop trying to be funny in these movies. As far as the Shredder, good job removing all the hardware. I hope that mutagen he was exposed to at the end of the last flick made him more formidable and less reliant on giant Swiss Army suits. The rehash of the Foot Soldiers definitely makes them more “ninja” and less “evil s.w.a.t. team”. The turtles themselves look a little more turtle and less Shrek-ish and I like the re-vamps on each of their attires. However, I feel like they don’t ALL need to wear pants, no one was worried about turtle penis in 1990, no one is worried now. Besides, I own a turtle and that thing is IN his shell, lol. April O’Neil. Well, Megan Fox is not a bad choice, nor a horrible actress. I just feel like the last movie was more about April O’Neil and her wacky ninja turtle friends than about the TMNT themselves. I realize cgi is expensive and they might not want to have scenes where the TMNT are just sitting around eating pork rinds like they did in 1990, but they definitely need more focus in this film. The TMNT can’t be on the screen for action ONLY. Last trailer I gave a 5/10, this one… Knowing what I know and seeing the differences I give it a strong 7.
