Captain America Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR Looks And Sounds Great written by Sean Gerber March 1, 2016 Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War looks like the superhero movie to beat in 2016. With only one trailer and a 30-second TV spot during the Super Bowl, Marvel has already shown some incredible, emotionally-gripping footage that’s driven expectations to a stratospheric level. The studio has been relatively quiet while Deadpool has taken the box office by storm and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has ramped up its final marketing push, but that silence should not be mistaken for a lack of confidence. According to Devin Faraci of Birth.Movies.Death., Marvel and Disney have a very good feeling about Captain America: Civil War. How could they not? The entire creative team behind the outstanding Captain America: The Winter Soldier (writers Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely along with directors Joe and Anthony Russo) returned and put together a film featuring several Avengers in a loose adaptation of an immensely popular Marvel Comics storyline. That, of course, only explains the confidence going into the project, but it’s the final result that’s behind the biggest smiles on the Burbank lot. Having spoken to a couple people in attendance at recent screenings, Faraci reports that the reactions he’s heard are very positive with different people liking the same things about the movie. The final half hour has been described as, “brutal, both physically and emotionally.” One source called the last act, “an emotional horror movie because the film gives both Tony and Steve solid reasoning, and because it truly makes you feel the depths of this schism.” That sounds incredible, but there’s more. Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther is said to be “phenomenal” and new Spider-Man Tom Holland is reportedly great. Despite all the new characters, these sources confirm that Captain America: Civil War is indeed the third Captain America film and a continuation of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, not Avengers 2.5. It sounds like fans will get everything they want out of this film. Of course, these are just a couple of reactions and while they come on the heels of previous reports about strong buzz for the film, we all have to see it for ourselves to know for sure. In the meantime, if you’re looking for reasons to be excited about Captain America: Civil War, there are plenty to choose from (including the images from Marvel below.) The next trailer, which will probably arrive sometime this month, is sure to provide even more. Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War is in theaters May 6. GibLesPaul456 This is just a theory or a feeling…but I believe BvS will start off as very dark but will have a hopeful triumphant ending and CA:CW will start off as a fun Avengers flick and will end with the “death” of either Cap or Iron Man. No evidence…just a hunch. Matthew Malecki I would be shocked if Marvel killed off either Iron Man or Cap. Absolutely shocked. I wouldn’t be surprised if another character or two were killed, though. I agree with most of your assessment of the two movies, except I’m not sure how fun Civil War is going to start off as. Winter Soldier didn’t really start off as a fun Avengers type movie and we’ve got all the same creative people back for this. I’m not saying there won’t be any fun moments, it is a Marvel film…they all have fun moments. But I expect the overall tone of Civil War to be serious and somber. As far as BvS…I expect a seriousness and grimness from the get go, that will have moments of fun (and hopefully pure joy from me) throughout. And will steadily move from that tone to something more hopeful (the subtitle is Dawn of Justice). The night is always darkest just before the dawn. And the dawn is coming (sorry, couldn’t help myself).
