DC Films BOOSTER GOLD Confirmed To Be In Development For The DCEU written by Sean Gerber May 12, 2016 The DC Extended Universe is about to get a blast from the future! Yesterday, Devin Faraci at Birth.Movies.Death. reported that Booster Gold is in active development at Warner Bros. with Zack Stentz (Thor) writing and Greg Berlanti producing and possibly directing. Today, Berlanti confirmed those details in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter: I’m attached to a few films [at Warner Bros.] now, and one, Booster Gold, is a DC property. Zack Stentz, who wrote an episode of Flash last year, just got the job, so he’s writing the script now. I’d probably direct that, or I would want to. Berlanti has had tremendous success adapting DC superheroes to live-action. He’s produced and co-created Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl (now joining the rest of Berlanti’s superhero shows on The CW), and Legends of Tomorrow. Berlanti has not had as much success with superheroes on the big screen, but it’s worth noting that his Green Lantern script was significantly better than what Warner Bros. eventually turned it into for the final film. Booster Gold is (or now was) at the top of my list of DC heroes not scheduled for a movie that I wanted to see in the DC Extended Universe. Booster Gold is the ultimate self-aware comic book hero this side of Deadpool. Breaking the fourth wall isn’t really his style, but having been born in the 25th Century, Booster has seen and read the stories of the heroes from centuries ago and is aware of the fame and fortune they can generate. He travels back in time to pursue the ultimate super power: branding. With superhero properties being so big and stretched across so many different mediums, there’s never been a better time to have a lot of fun with Booster Gold. Let’s hope Warner Bros. keeps this project moving and gets it into theaters sooner than later. Robert Reineke Exactly. If DC doesn’t already have a fake Booster Gold twitter account they should start one pronto. Joshua Nathan Strong I see a 2 hour commentary about the state of celebrity in today’s digital age and not a superhero film. Matthew Dickinson This is definitely a good direction, it’s the most excited I’ve been about the DCEU post-BvS SeanLM He’s always been a likeable, quirky, off-beat, sort of humorous character… which is exactly why I don’t want the WB/DC movie folks touching (i.e ruining) him.
